Don’t fear the RESTART button!

It’s never too late to press the “RESTART” button in life!

One time, an audit partner asked me—an auditor in a large international firm—why I did not go back to Vietnam and run my mother’s company. He had overheard my conversation with another colleague that my mother in Vietnam owns a business with over 500 employees.

Here’s why…

1. I was only 4 years into my career as an auditor. What would I know about running a business?

2. The business laws and work culture in Vietnam are vastly different from that of the US. How could I cope?

3. Why did my Mom invest in my education to help me achieve my dreams of becoming an auditor when she could have taught me to run her business for FREE?

4. My Mom built her company from scratch and she cannot have someone as inexperienced as me in a high-ranking position. That would sabotage her company!

If you re-read my reasons, you will come to realize that each of them connotes my unwillingness to restart my life.

It is fine because I already had a job I was passionate about and was not willing to give that all up!

However, if you haven’t realized your passion yet, it is perfectly all right to hit the “RESTART” button and start from scratch!
