A typical counselor would advise you to pick a career that is in tune with your heart’s desires. Your parents, on the contrary, would tell you to pick a major in university that can earn you a big fat paycheck in the future. And perhaps, a friend would tell you to take a look at the latest job market trends and pick a field with the potential for growth.
Here is the million-dollar question—which of them is right?
NONE.
Let me tell you a story.
Two years ago, my daughter returned from a retreat organized by our church. As she was unpacking her bag, a pair of flip flops that she had bought on her trip caught my eye. I picked them up and noticed the words “God walk with you” printed on the left pair and the words “Get paid for what I love to do” printed on the right one.
As I was holding the pair of the flip flop in my hands, I had a revelation. I realized that I never thought of organizing or finding a job that fulfilled me for getting paid for what I love to do. After that day, everything that I do and each activities I have selected to execute has only one focus. Is it something I love to do and can I get paid for it.
That is how my 3P Principle—Passion + Purpose = Profits—was born.
