If you ask any one of my 20 employees and partners, they would tell you that I am not your typical boss.
I do not mind them coming into work a little late and leaving a little early. I do not mind them working from home or from a coffee shop. I do not mind that they take short breaks every once in a while because they feel stressed out at work. I do not easily reprimand my employees, even when they miss important client meetings, because I trust that they have a good reason for everything they do or do not do. As long as they are productive, innovative, passionate, focused on excellence, and results-driven, I am fine with whatever works for them!
An employee’s performance cannot be measured by how well they follow rules and how many hours they work. It can only be measured by how well they do their job and how happy they are to be at work everyday.
